At a gala dinner and awards ceremony Friday, November 4, NAIOP Washington State honored this year’s crop of outstanding real estate developments and activities in a variety of market types and the individuals who conceived of, took risks, sponsored, supported and made the projects happen. The awards aim to honor entire teams, including all who contributed to the project’s success in this annual celebration of the industry. Each project was evaluated for impact on the community, market adaptability, ingenuity and local contributions.

In addition to the projects completed this year that will shape our region for years to come, NAIOP honored real estate investment pioneer Blake Eagle as the 2016 Hall of Fame inductee. Eagle is credited with opening institutional investing in real estate and is the founder of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF). From 1971 through 1993, he headed Frank Russell Company’s real estate consulting group, which invested more than $18 billion in real estate. Prior to joining Russell, he was a real estate developer.

This year, for the first time, NAIOP supporters and the community at large weighed in on the Community Impact Project of the Year winner. In addition to the judges’ review, online voting took place in October to help determine the winner. Additionally, all nominees and winners can be viewed online in a public gallery for the first time.
